Peter & Paul

Almost as if to say good bye to me, the city of Rome organised a massive firework today – but it’s actually intended to honour the saints of the city: San Pietro e Paolo.

I spent the afternoon walking though the city and showing my favourite gelateria to one of Gonzo’s colleagues from Kuwait, who was touring Europe and happened to visit Rome that day. After some touristing around Campo de Fiori and Trastevere with him and his American friends (who were absolutely overwhelmed by the beauty of Rome in a very entertaining, American way) I steered the whole party towards the Piazza del Popolo, where the firework took place.

Of course the piazza was packed; I think I’ve never seen so many people in Rome at once. But it was a lovely summer evening and everyone was in a good mood.
The firework itself was absolutely amazing! It was accompanied by classical and pop music and the fireworks went along perfectly with the music! It was simply breathtaking  – and it lasted forever!

Thanks, Roma, for such a beautiful farewell! Tomorrow I’ll be off to the airport at dawn, ready for an Austrian summer.

XX, Angie
